The Radio Is My Friend Again

I'm not sure what it is about Cincinnatis radio stations but they mesh very well with me. From Pop Music to Old School R&B to Oldies in general they have a good mix of stations.  Though I must admit I have a newfound love in one station in particular....

WMKV - The station refers to itself as Big Band Music & Nostalgia and its incredibly a breath of fresh air.   If you tune in weekdays at 7pm (Eastern Time) you can catch an hour of Mystery Playhouse  Radio.  Often times I'm driving home from work while listening and before you know it, the 30 minute drive is over and I'm sitting in my car waiting for the first program to finish before going upstairs to listen to the second suspense story.

If you have any interest in nostalgic, old time music I would definitely recommend giving it a listen (at any time of day).  You can listen to the station streaming live through your media player by clicking here.

For a bit more information you can check out their site or read a small description here.  The beauty of live streaming and interwebs allows me to share this with you.  If you like what you hear as much as I do, and have the means to spare, they could always use donations to keep everything flowing smoothly.  Otherwise pass on the station to your friends and blog readers.  Guaranteed mood lifter!!

Hope everyone is enjoying their week!

I'm no writer... or am I??

I've never been one to say "I love to write" but as a child I had such a passion for reading.   Sadly, it was a short-lived trait which seemed to wear off once I was forced to read specific books between jr high and high school.  (A strange thing considering some of these books were fantastic reads.)

Perhaps the fact that these books were now mandatory assignments had something to do with my abandonment of reading altogether.  I'm not quite sure.. all I know for certain is the only series I've ever even started to read were the Sweet Valley High books in elementary school. (true story)

Then came college English class.   I went to Indiana University and had an amazing teacher who included all forms of media into our writing analysis.  It was there in which I learned I have (or had) such a knack for writing.   I wrote two of my favorite pieces in that class, one on a milk campaign ad featuring Dennis Rodman and the second, from the ever so amazing movie "Bladerunner"

Five pages went to analyzing one scene of the movie -- and the paper was glorious.  Thats right, glorious!

I did exceptionally well in the class and lived for all the praise within the teacher sidenotes of my drafts.....

,..and then I dropped out of the Uni..... thats another story altogether, but it was pretty much no more reading or writing for me. My life took a turn into cashier jobs and customer service.....

Fast forward to 2002 (math geeks out there stop trying to guess my age*) where I first ran across the concept of blogging.

Back then I wasn't the same charming, well mannered woman you have here today...

Actually, i was still charming but in those days, my powers were used for evil rather than good.  It was a time when my life was oozing with sarcasm and I was dating like there was no tomorrow.  Judge it as you may, I can honestly say I have yet to  accomplish the massive blog  following I had back in those days.

It's always about the smut with you people, isn't it? smut smut smut... don't worry I blame society as a whole for this. it's not entirely your fault ;)

So now, here we all are, nine years later and I've grown beyond measure.
So much in fact that now when I go to blog I wind up staring at the screen for minutes on end without knowing what to say.
  • I have no children so I can't post their cute little faces.  (Unless of course you count pepito, my toy son)
(dont let his size fool you, he's been with me for over 17 years now)

    • I'm not entirely too great with tutorials unless you all want to learn the secret of monkey toes and have the ability to pick up almost anything with such toes...
    • I'm also not married so I can't tell you how my husband and I frolic in the spring meadows of the world... though truth be told I have an amazing boyfriend who will one day be my husband and we shall frolic in local spring meadows:
    • and though I love taking photographs I don't find as much fulfillment in simply sharing a photo and saying a few words here and there.  I'm far too long winded for such a thing (if you haven't already noticed)
So instead I will bring to you whatever comes natural to me and hope to keep it fairly real.  I'm far from being a "great" writer.  I may be a bit of a spelling nazi but when it comes to grammatical errors, I'm all over the place with excessive periods (...), no regard for run on sentences, and more often than not it will be rare to see me use apostrophes with my S's.   It's just who I am

and I hope it's enough to keep some of you coming back for more :)

(*i was just kidding about you math geeks by the way.  I know you probably had already done the math as soon as I mentioned the Rodman ad)

    Le Geekbot Parade

The robots have taken over IL*MOSTRO Studios and I have officially been evicted to a separate corner of blogger. Both sites will be continuously updates, but Il*Mostro will be limited to updates directly dealing with the Etsy shop.

Geekbot Parade will probably still coincide greatly with the shop, but it will have a bit more of my own personal musings and random thoughts.

Please bare with me as the changes are still going underway!
